In an exclusive interview with Hawzah News Agency in Mashhad, Sheikh Ghazi Hanina, head of the Board of Trustees of the Gathering of Muslim Scholars of Lebanon, highlighted the doctrinal and civilizational dimensions of the Ghadir event. He stated that the truth of Ghadir is manifested in the concept of Wilayah, with the personality of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (Peace be upon him), representing the most complete model for the realization of divine authority in Islamic society.
Alawi Conduct: An Eternal Model for the Realization of Justice
Sheikh Hanina noted that the life of the Commander of the Faithful (Peace be upon him) was replete with self-sacrifice, devotion, and struggle in the path of truth. "Both before and after the event of Ghadir, that noble personality ceaselessly strove for the establishment of justice, the defense of divine values, and the protection of human dignity, devoting all his capacities to the cause of realizing truth," he said.
The Lebanese scholar added that a study of the life of the Commander of the Faithful (Peace be upon him) reveals that justice-centeredness, a sense of responsibility, and support for the oppressed constitute the most important hallmarks of his governance and character. "It is precisely these features that have transformed the Alawi school into an enduring model for all generations," he stated.
Ghadir: A Shared Asset for Muslim Unity and Resistance
Sheikh Hanina underscored that the message of Ghadir is not confined to a single denomination or group, asserting that concepts such as justice, truth-seeking, Wilayah, and confronting oppression are universal messages belonging to all Muslims and can serve as the axis of solidarity and unity for the Islamic Ummah.
"Today, on the stage of developments in the Islamic world, Shia and Sunni stand side by side in numerous arenas, defending the ideals of truth and justice and resisting hegemonic policies and oppression," he remarked. He clarified, however, that the principal criterion on this battlefield is not sectarian affiliation, but rather commitment to Islamic values, justice, and the defense of truth.
Muslims Must Cast Aside Discord, Pursue Path of Unity and Resistance
The head of the Board of Trustees of the Gathering of Muslim Scholars of Lebanon stressed the necessity of strengthening Islamic unity, stating that Muslims must draw inspiration from the teachings of Ghadir and the luminous conduct of the Commander of the Faithful (Peace be upon him) to cast aside differences and grounds for division. He called on the Ummah to remain vigilant against the conspiracies of the enemies of Islam and to pursue the path of unity, resistance, and dignity.
"In the present circumstances, the Islamic world needs a re-reading of the foundational concepts of Ghadir more than ever before—concepts that can lay the groundwork for the authority, progress, and victory of the Islamic Ummah in the face of the challenges ahead," Sheikh Hanina concluded.
